Weather in Kathmandu

Best time to visit

The Kathmandu Valley is in the warm temperate zone and has a mild climate most of the year.

Spring (March to May) starts off relatively dry but as the weather gets warmer (22°C/15°F) in May, precipitation increases too.

Summer (June to August) is the rainy monsoon season. Visitor numbers plummet during this period as trekking routes become impassable and rain-clouds hide the views.

Autumn (September to November) is wet initially, but as the season progresses, warm days and clear skies make Autumn the prime trekking season in the Everest and Annapurna regions.

Winter (December to February) is dry and cold. Temperatures hover around 10°C (50°F) to 13°C (55°F).
